Do You Really Want To Paint A House or Plant A Tree?

I don’t. Most likely because I don’t receive any pleasure with doing outdoor work.  However, some people love to put on their overalls, go over to Home Depot, buy a ladder, a fancy hammer and paint brushes and become the weekend D.I.Y warrior.

I  would rather network with “Green Thumb People.”  Allowing them the opportunity to fine tune their home improvement skills.

How do you find these weekend D.I.Y. warriors?

By networking!

I’m going to be real honest with you. I like networking as much as I like outdoor work. Have you ever been invited to a networking event and found it to be a complete waste of time?

Say Yes!

Walking zombie-like through the monthly real estate investment association meeting or First Friday event is never fun. I use to be networking event zombie.

But not any more. I finally realized when you are going to a networking event or do volunteer work… it’s not about “networking.”  You need to focus on building relationships.

I interviewed one of the best non-profit relationship builders in Indianapolis — Kevin Sellers. During the day (and most of the evening) Sellers  works as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager at CSO Architects.  At night and on the weekends, he is a board member for Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and chapter president for National Society of Black Engineers.

In a rather short period of time, he has been able to expand his personal and professional business relationships by strickly through business networking referral only. Listen to Kevin Sellers as he gives…
